Monero mining probability
Monero uses RandomX, which is more CPU-oriented than the ASIC-dominated SHA-256 and Scrypt networks. Solo mining probability can still be low, but the scale is materially different from Bitcoin.
MiningOdds uses the same Poisson block model here as on every other block calculator: P(≥1) = 1 − e−λ, with λ = (your hashrate ÷ network hashrate) × (time window ÷ block time).
Is Monero solo mining more realistic than Bitcoin solo mining?
Usually yes, because Monero's total network hashrate is much smaller than Bitcoin's. The difference in scale changes block probability for the same miner-sized setup.
Which unit should I use for Monero hashrate?
Most Monero miners think in KH/s or MH/s. This page defaults to MH/s for XMR.
