Bitcoin mining probability

Bitcoin uses SHA-256 and a very large network hashrate. For most miners, solo Bitcoin is a low-probability, high-variance activity, so block probability is more informative than any smooth payout estimate.

MiningOdds uses the same Poisson block model here as on every other block calculator: P(≥1) = 1 − e−λ, with λ = (your hashrate ÷ network hashrate) × (time window ÷ block time).

Can one ASIC realistically solo mine Bitcoin?

It can, but the probability is usually very low because a single ASIC is a small fraction of the Bitcoin network. This page shows that probability directly instead of implying a steady payout.

Does this Bitcoin mining calculator include electricity costs?

No. MiningOdds focuses on hashrate, network share, time, and block probability. Electricity, hosting, and hardware costs are outside this calculator.
